Mental Performance

Driven by Excellence.

Sustained by Joy.

The Pursuit of Excellence, Built on Consistency and Joy.

Train your mind with evidence-based mental performance skills to achieve unshakeable execution in every high-stakes moment.

Our Approach

At Outplay, our mission is to help performers reach consistent excellence and embrace the process with genuine enjoyment. Using the evidence-based practice of Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT), we teach performers psychological skills to handle the internal noise, stay present, and take committed action toward becoming the performers they want to be. By teaching performers to willingly carry fear, doubt, and stress in service of their chosen values, we transform the pursuit of excellence into a vehicle for long-term growth and fulfillment.

Challenges We Tackle:

Performers across all domains: athletics, the arts, academics, and professional life, utilize performance psychology skills when:

  • They find themselves stuck in their head, overanalyzing, or hesitating during high-stakes moments.

  • They struggle to move past mistakes, setbacks, or poor performances.

  • They feel like their “practice self” is different from their “performance self” due to nerves or anxiety.

  • They are experiencing burnout or fatigue and have lost touch with the joy, passion, and purpose of their craft.

  • They have difficulty navigating high-intensity emotions like frustration, fear, or anger when the stakes are high.

  • They find themselves “playing it safe” or holding back to avoid failure.

  • They are struggling to manage competing demands, such as school, career transitions, and high-level training, while staying present.

What You Will Gain:

Our training equips you with a transferable psychological toolkit that drives both performance excellence and long-term flourishing:

  • Psychological Flexibility: the ability to stay present and committed to your values, even when difficult or distracting thoughts, fears, or doubts show up.

  • Present-Moment Focus: skills to deliberately and flexibly anchor your attention to the task at hand and fully engage in the present moment.

  • Values-Driven Action: learning to ground your pursuit of excellence in what deeply matters to you, transforming hard work from a source of stress into a source of fulfillment.

  • Genuine Confidence: a deep sense of self-worth built on effort, preparation, and character, things that you can actually control.

  • Holistic Development: building a psychological toolkit that supports your immediate performance goals while fueling your long-term growth as a human being.

About Me

As a lifelong athlete and experienced coach, I know firsthand the transformative power of pursuing excellence. As humans, we have a biological drive to realize our potential; it’s what makes the dedication to a craft so exhilarating. But I also know the flip side of that drive: the pressure, vulnerability, doubt, and heartbreak that inevitably come along for the ride.

I view performance as a continuous series of choice points. When stress, fatigue, or anxiety show up, it is natural to want to back down or find a way out. While avoiding discomfort might make us feel better in the short term, it ultimately robs us of the satisfaction of giving our all. The alternative is psychological flexibility. This is the highly trainable skill that allows us to carry our difficult internal experiences with us as we move toward what matters most. By learning to remain open to our thoughts and feelings without letting them run the show, we are free to become fully absorbed in the task at hand.

I founded Outplay to give performers the tools to handle the noise, focus on what’s in front of them, and embrace the process. My goal is to help you build unshakeable consistency and genuine enjoyment in your pursuit of excellence, equipping you with a psychological toolkit that will serve you on the practice field, in the arena, and across all contexts of your life.
